Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Adjunct Faculty’s role is to contribute to the design and development of the curriculum, act as a student advisor for student professional and academic goals and deliver effective professionally inspired pedagogy in way that ensures teaching quality that meets or exceeds TCSPP’s high standard of teaching excellence.

Principal Duties:

Teaching

  • Utilization of effective on-ground and online teaching platforms to coordinate class activities, assignments, discussions, and grading
  • Instruct students using the most up to date subject matter and pedagogical best practices while incorporating consistent and constructive feedback throughout the learning process
  • Maintain readiness for each lecture by reviewing and/or preparing all relevant class materials and pre-class assignments prior to the start of each class
  • Incorporate innovative pedagogies to facilitate student learning for NCLEX examination preparation

Course Development

  • Responsible for the maintenance and/or development of course syllabi, materials, assignments, quizzes and exams per departmental guidelines and student needs
  • Act as first point of contact for any instructors teaching a class that you maintain oversight of and provide support as needed

Institutional Development

  • Attend national and departmental academic committee meeting as needed and participate in the completion of applicable deliverables

Student Advising

  • Maintain open and regular office hours for students and meet with them to discuss academic advisement, guidance on dissertation, and developmental or disciplinary issues
  • Responding to all student emails and inquiries regarding academic and or professional issues

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in the following nursing teaching roles preferred : pharmacology, microbiology, pathophysiology, pediatrics, ob/gyn, nursing skills/clinicals
  • Presentation of Material - Material are presented in a way that maximizes student interest and response and independent learning.
  • Expertise in the Field - Is an expert in the field and can convey the relevance of his/her knowledge to students.
  • Syllabi and Course Objectives - Mange syllabi and course objectives visibly well-organized and clear. Discusses changes/improvements with department.
  • Canvas - Ability to learn and use the Canvas online teaching platform to coordinate student activity and discussion
  • Grading- Utilize appropriate rubrics and/or evidence-based grading criteria for grading and inputting of grades in accordance with university policies to meet deadlines and ensure fair grading practices

Position Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Degree in nursing or related healthcare field preferred
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Active and unencumbered RN License
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience

Compensation & Benefits This opportunity is budgeted at $1,124-1,540 per credit and may vary per course with student enrollment. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
