This position reports directly to the Director of Finance, Division of Finance and Administration.
This position encompasses four major areas of responsibility.
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities • Academic HR to over 220 current faculty, including the Department of Pathology's leadership.
• Managerial oversight for three direct-report staff (Administrative Specialists).
• Responsible for consistently providing independent judgment when responding to inquiries within the context of current SPG's, policies and Michigan Medicine standards.
• Miscellaneous departmental responsibilities.
• Interacting and collaborating with various departments and offices.
• Supervising, managing, and delegating work/assignments to three direct-report staff.
• Being a manager and leader for three direct-report staff activities.
• Approving all bi-weekly and monthly payroll.
• Managing and providing leadership and guidance to the direct-reports.
• Managing all aspects of faculty recruitment, retention, appointments, onboarding, and offboarding.
• Finalizing internal Policies and Procedures specific to the Department of Pathology.
• Overseeing and managing general and complex HR projects.
• Managing and overseeing faculty PAR transactions.
• Managing and facilitating all rank and track level faculty academic appointments.
• Managing and facilitating all rank and track level faculty promotions.
• Managing incoming academic faculty with licensure, credentialing, and Provider Enrollment requirements.
• Managing and processing all faculty reappointments, re-credentialing, and licensure renewals.
• Managing all incoming faculty with onboarding.
• Managing all manner of faculty lifecycle activities.
• Managing, monitoring, and tracking faculty leaves.
• Managing faculty terminations.
• Managing and facilitating questions regarding Visas.
• Overseeing and managing faculty job postings.
• Managing a wide range of human resource issues.
• Managing the processing of academic faculty updates to the internal Pathology Human Resource database.
Requirements • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of management and supervisory experience.
• Five years of experience related to medical school faculty appointments and credentialing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• The ability to work well under pressure and the ability to effectively manage priorities.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Considerable knowledge of University and departmental policies, rules, and regulations.
• Knowledge of the principles and applications of HR data processing functions.
