Cocktail and Bar Lead - Job Description

Summary : The Cocktail & Bar Lead is primarily responsible for the ideation and execution of our over-the-top cocktail and milk shake menu. This position is also responsible for assisting guests and coworkers at the bar accurately, politely, and enthusiastically. Expected split of duties is 60% bartending and 40% cocktail/shake program. This position requires weekend closes, holiday and evening availability. The position reports to the Broad Leaf General Manager. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Creating and coordinating the cocktail and shake program including making kegged cocktails, preparing syrups, ideation of the cocktail and shake program, writing SOPs for all menu items and ensuring bartending staff are adhering to them
  • Ensure guests have a great experience and are excited to come back for more
  • Manage and facilitate events 
  • Ensure that the entryway, inside spaces, bathrooms and outdoor spaces are clean and safe 
  • Utilize the servant leadership approach to energize and connect with staff and to ensure their feeling of being a valued member of the team
  • Assist in orientation and training of new employees
  • Pre-shifts with staff to set the day up for success
  • Maintain clear communication to provide consistent expectations and SOPs for all staff
  • Help determine needs for continuous education for staff 
  • Successfully perform office duties
  • Responsible for closing the pub down, accurately cashing out staff, putting together money drop for bank, locking up, setting alarm, etc.
  • Keep POS updated and accurate and ensure all staff are fully trained on its proper use 
  • Take inventory weekly of draft, retail cans, retail liquor, kegged cocktails, cider, wine and hand-pour spirits to ensure no lapse in product availability
  • Order beverage items each week as needed and verify invoices to ensure the cost of product brought in and product sold are accurate, communicate any errors or updates with accounting
  • Properly rotate stock using the first in first out system
  • Stay connected with production team to understand and promote upcoming releases
  • Coordinate with Digital Brand Manager as needed for social media posts and promotions 

Job Requirements

  • Ability to come to work excited every day and ready to rock - your vibe is what staff feed off of. 
  • Ability to handle and address conflict immediately and effectively-staff and guests should be glad they brought up an issue to you. 
  • A good understanding of the brewing process 
  • Passion for all things Broad Leaf - unique beer and spirits, exceptional service & experience, and sustainability
  • Understanding of Broad Leaf history, policies and procedures
  • A passion for continuous improvement and learning
  • Proficient in Google sheets and docs
  • Cicerone Certified Beer Server certificate preferred 
  • 1 year of management experience 
  • Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 40 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion

Compensation

  • $7/hour + % of tip pool while bartending
  • $20-22/hour while performing backroom and office duties (based on experience)
