Department of Psychiatry Faculty Affairs Manager

VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS), in partnership with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School, is actively recruiting for a full-time, psychiatrist on the Clinical track. Ideal candidates will have expertise in psychiatric assessment and management of patients of high complexity and across a broad diagnostic range; ability to work in interdisciplinary teams; active participation in supervision and education of medical students, psychiatry residents and allied health trainees; track record of program improvement, academic activities and medical leadership.

The VA Ann Arbor MH Service is a Partner Affiliate of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School. You will be joining a vibrant mental health service with academically active fellow psychiatry and psychology faculty and over 180 other interdisciplinary professional and support staff. Salaries are competitive with several additional benefits. Specific duties will be position-dependent and include providing comprehensive psychiatric care for veterans in Ann Arbor/Flint/Jackson/Toledo, as well as training and participation in Clinical Video Conferencing (Tele-psychiatry). Responsibilities also include providing on-site coverage as needed in the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System sites including hospital-based programs. Duties also include supervision of psychiatric trainees as well as contributing to the academic mission of the service. Medical leadership opportunities will be considered for candidates with a strong interest and a track record.

Candidates should have an M.D. and be board eligible/certified in Psychiatry, have strong broad clinical (outpatient and hospital based settings) and leadership skills and ability to adapt and work flexibly with several multidisciplinary teams. Specialty board eligibility/certification is preferred but not required (e.g. Geriatric, Addiction, Psychosomatic). State licensure is required. Experience with Telepsychiatry is preferred but not required.

C andidates should qualify for an appointment to the University of Michigan Medical School faculty o n the Clinical Track at the level of Clinical Instructor, or higher, in the Department of Psychiatry . Faculty appointment in the University of Michigan Medical School requires national academic recognition with demonstrated skills in clinical care, teaching and administration.

Physical Requirements: The work is largely office based and in a sedentary setting. No manual labor is required above ordinary situations. The incumbent must be capable of using a computer given that all clinical charting is electronic. The incumbent may also be tasked to travel to VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System sites on a periodic basis for special meetings or events.

This position is posted as  Clinical Professor with underfill to Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Instructor. The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon candidate's qualifications.
