Job Description General Summary Under general supervision of the principal investigator, plans and carries out key elements of a clinical research project. Is responsible for timely completion of deliverables to meet the needs of the study sponsor, principal investigator and department administration. Reporting Relationships Reports to the Director of Clinical Research Operations Qualifications Qualifications * Master's in Nursing or Healthcare Administration or field study related to the research of the clinic required. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for required education. * If RN, must be currently licensed in the state of Maryland. * Five (5) years related experience in a clinical research environment required. * If RN, must be currently licensed in the state of Maryland. * Previous oncology experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation. * Knowledge of key practices in the field as well as all relevant federal, state, local laws, regulations, and policies. * Skill in ethically communicating risks and benefits. * Skill in meeting multiple priorities and studies in various stages of development. * Ability to facilitate communications with the principal investigator, study sponsor, department administration, patients and their families. * Must have attention to detail and the ability to handle tasks in a timely manner. * Comprehensive knowledge of research principles and practices. * Skill in assurance of participant care. Working Conditions Working inside a clean well-lighted office environment. May be expected to work past normal work hours, if need arises. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring the observation of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices. This position has been classified as low or no exposure risk and does not require the completion of an annual testing, but may require "just in time" testing if the need arises. Physical Requirements Manual dexterity for operating equipment and computers, visual acuity for viewing display monitors and reading patient charts. Acute hearing to assimilate oral communication from patients, physicians, other health care providers and family members.
