Health Information Assistant, Full-time position Under the supervision of the Health Information Manager, performs clerical duties utilizing computer and data entry skills. Duties performed include: assembling/preparing medical records and record breakdown; attaching loose sheets, pulling and filing charts; providing records for release of information requests in-house and from storage; answering telephones. Assists in tracking of dictation and transcriptions of all reports; flags reports for signatures, psychiatric evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Interacts with internal and external customers in accordance with all departmental and facility policies.


Qualifications Education : High School Graduate or Equivalent. College Graduate Preferred. Experience : A minimum of one year office/customer service experience required. Two (2) years' experience in Medical Records/Health Information Management preferred. Skills : Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology, and basic health information department function to include word processing software and dictation system. Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Excellent typing skills required (minimum of 50 words per minutes). Ability to access and utilize reference material and make decisions upholding departmental policy and procedure. Ability to follow instructions and perform under stress in a productive independent manner. Strong interpersonal and communication skills preferred. Physical Requirements/Conditions : Requires exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally (lift, push, pull) medical records and/or carts. Ability to move briskly and freely about the department and throughout the campus. Must be able to climb on step stool, stoop, crouch, and reach to retrieve and/or file records or documents. Extensive sitting, standing and walking for approximately two (2) to six (6) hours per day. Other : Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or Health Information Manager. This opportunity offers the following:
