Description:

The Lead Billing Specialist assists the patient financial services leadership team with department workflows ensuring prompt resolution of accounts with adequate follow up and documentation. This position is responsible for supporting the billing team with all pre-processing claims and claim appeal work flows to comply with the various payor requirements and maintain a low backlog of work. The Lead Billing Specialist requires limited supervision, working as part of a team that is committed to EBNHC’s mission recognizing the work has a direct impact on the meeting sustainable financial levels for the organization. The position should meet level 1-3 billing specialist requirements allowing for substitution at any level in the billing department.

Essential duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists leadership team with the daily staff activities which include claim processing and denial management. Review of self-pay activities.
• Assists with appeal processes.
• Assists with various production spreadsheets.
• Assists with workflow design of claim processes.
• By assignment: the daily reporting - ensuring that information is processed in a timely fashion.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High School Diploma required, advanced schooling preferred.
• Five to six years of healthcare billing experience, specializing in MassHealth.
• Understanding of Medical Billing, ICD and CPT coding, analytical and leadership ability, computer literacy, excellent interpersonal ability, attention to detail, organization, and a professional attitude.
