Office Support Specialist Bilingual Location Phoenix, AZ (Central City area) : Posting Date 01/08/24 Application Deadline 01/10/24 Pay Range $19.15 - $27.50 per hour Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation. Job Type Unclassified Department Public Health About the Position As our Office Support Specialist, you will provide clerical support to the Community Wellness & Health Promotion (CWHP) staff and immunization clinics. You will be verifying and entering immunization data into the centralized State of Arizona database (ASIIS), verifying insurance eligibility, and performing complex administrative tasks requiring independent judgment in interpreting technical information.   • We Require
    • Two years of experience performing office, administrative, and clerical duties, which includes customer service experience in a medical/health care setting or school environment
    • Bilingual skills in Spanish/English
    • High school diploma or GED
    • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or related experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year-per-year basis

    • Experience verifying insurance eligibility through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)
    Job Contributions
    • Independently performs administrative tasks to support the CWHP staff and immunization clinics which may include but are not limited to ordering clinic supplies, creating signage and other forms specific to the clinic, preparing documents for storage following county policy and medical records standards, greeting clients, collecting needed information, and verifying insurance
    • Enter client immunization information into the central database, check database for duplicate records, combine duplicates if found, and translate immunization records of clients from other countries to the American equivalent, utilizing ASIIS and following HIPAA regulations search for and release client immunization records for medical providers, school personnel, and parents
    • Use the Arizona State Immunization Information System (ASIIS) to produce custom reports for leadership when requested and perform quality assurance reviews on data entered into ASIIS, identify trends, and suggest changes
    • Work at offsite immunization clinic sites and one-time clinic events, perform record searches, insurance verification, assist clients and staff, and train and supervise temporary staff and volunteers when needed
    Working Conditions
    • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
    • Ability to exert up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
    • Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
