Perform limited clinical duties under the direction of an orthodontist. Clinical duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the orthodontist during treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. May perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments.

• Prepare patient, sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, or assist orthodontist during procedures.

• Record treatment information in patient records.

• Assist orthodontist in management of medical or dental emergencies.

• Order and monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory.

• Expose dental diagnostic x-rays.

• Provide post-bonding instructions to patient.

• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.

• Take and record medical and dental histories as well as update intraoral photos.

• Scan using the iTero.

• Clean and polish removable appliances.

• Clean teeth and prohpy paste.

Education and Experience:

• Dental assistant certification where required.

• X-ray certification.

• Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, BLS and infection control training as required by law.

• Experience with relevant dental software.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
