Job summary A Registered Nurse in the Ortho and Bariatric Surgery Unit at Lifespan
Provides care for patients both before and after various orthopedic or bariatric surgeries
Assesses patient conditions, administers medications, changes dressings, monitors vital signs, keeps records, and provides support and education
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities • Provide direct patient care
• Provide leadership by delegating, supervising, and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary personnel
• Evaluate effectiveness of patient care and identify opportunities for improvement
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients and their families, and community services for patient care outcome and discharge planning
• Assess and provide appropriate education based on the patient and family needs
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and research activities
• Utilize all available resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care
• Identify growth needs and participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations
• Serve as a role model or preceptor to new graduate nurses and less experienced personnel
Requirements • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Rhode Island
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred
• Current CPR certification
• 1 year of experience as a nurse
