Compensation Range: $22-24 per hour

Compensation will be dependent upon geographic region, education, and experience.

Job Description



The Transportation Worker / Peer Support Specialist will plan, implement, and direct transportation needs for Prosperity patients and provide peer support services as part of a multi-disciplinary team to persons substance abuse and co-occurring problems. Service provision will focus on working with clients to enhance their recovery.

Responsibilities

The duties listed below reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the position.

  • Responsible for planning transportation for patients and/or incoming patients.
  • Transport patients and/or packages to and from assigned destinations.
  • Arrive at destinations on schedule.
  • Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays.
  • Use of navigation applications to determine the best route.
  • Observes and monitors clients' behavior and report to Supervisor and/or Clinical Team
  • Adheres to all state and local driving regulations and laws. Any violation or fine associated with failure to comply will be the responsibility of the driver to pay.
  • Maintains a low volume in the vehicle to be aware of any outside noise, such as sirens.
  • Ensures the vehicle is always clean, fueled, and ready for use.
  • Report any vehicle mechanical or safety issues immediately to supervisor.
  • Keep transportation logs up to date and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner (ex. reimbursement requests for mileage, etc)
  • Must project a positive image with a focus on professionalism, i.e., appearance, communication, demeanor.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Provide individualized, ongoing guidance, coaching and support.
  • Provide training in the use of personal and community resources.
  • Assist in developing formal and informal community supports.
  • Assist the person served in increasing social support networks of relatives, friends and/or significant others.
  • To work in cooperation with other providers, family members or significant others involved in the client’s recovery plan.
  • Attend Agency staff meetings, Case Conferences and Individual and Group Supervision.
  • Attain established standards of productivity.
  • Observe all rules of confidentiality relating to clinical information and treatment, both internally and when dealing with external agencies and/or individuals.
  • Performs other duties as required in relation to function.

Qualifications

  • Certified Peer Counselor training/exam completion required
  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Must have valid driver’s license required
  • Minimum of 1 year sobriety, if in recovery required
  • Previous experience in behavioral health or substance treatment facility, strongly preferred.
  • Past experience working directly with people in a service-oriented field is beneficial.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED within 30 days of hire required recertification annually thereafter. 
  • De-escalation/restraint technique certification within 90 days of hire and recertification annually thereafter. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to document within an electronic system. 
  • Past or present consumer of mental health or substance abuse services with a history of managing one's own illness.
  • Awareness of the importance of recovery in living with a mental illness or addictions problem.
  • Washington State only: 
    • Must be a Certified Peer through the Washington State Health Care Authority 
    • Must apply for a WA Department of Health, Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) credential, within 30 days of hire and maintain this credential throughout employment.
