Exam Type: Temporary Provisional (TPV)
Fill Type: Temporary provisional (TPV) appointee must participate and be successful in a Civil Service Examination process for this classification and be selected through an open competitive process in order to be considered for a permanent appointment. Provisional appointments may not exceed three (3) years. Per CSC Rule 114, Article I, Sec. 114.5.10.

The Clinical and Quality Improvement (CQI) Nurse is both certified as Registered Nurse (RN) and Public Health Nurse (PHN) and performs public health nursing services requiring professional skill, knowledge of the community and its resources, independent judgment and initiative. Supervision is received from the Nurse Manager and involves review of completed work, regular conferences and discussions of problem cases.
CQI Nurse functions as nurse consultant and provides nursing/clinical consultations to adults and older adults with disabilities/caregivers/family members, interdisciplinary team members being served by various programs within Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS) programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
According to Civil Service Commission Rule 109, the duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this job class and are not intended to be an inclusive list; may include additional duties as assigned.
1. Experience: One (1) year (equivalent to 2,000 hours) of verifiable experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute hospital, primary care facility, home health agency, and/or public health agency within the last five (5) years;

2. License and Certification:
a. Requires possession of a valid permanent or temporary license as a registered nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing;
AND
b. Possession of a valid Public Health Nurse Certificate issued by the California State Department of Health;
AND
c. Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
