JOB SUMMARY

Public Health Nurse 4- Vaccines for Children (VFC) Coordinator reports to the Public Health Nurse Administrator and is responsible for overseeing and administering the Wayne County VFC program. The Public Health Nurse 4 - VFC Coordinator develops policies and procedures in relation to immunizations and special projects; coordinates, monitors and enforces the Wayne County, State, and Federal Immunization Laws and Codes; and develops partnerships with public and private providers. This position coordinates activities related to immunization services including school immunization program and the VFC program and acts as a liaison and monitors compliance with immunization standards with a variety of entities including schools, daycares, VFC providers, healthcare providers, pharmacies, and hospitals.

JOB DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES The Public Health Nurse 4 reports to the Public Health Nurse Administrator. Responsibilities include; developing policies and procedures in relation to immunizations and special projects; coordinating, monitoring and enforcing the Wayne County, State, and Federal Immunization Laws and Codes; and developing active partnerships between public and private providers. The Public Health Nurse 4 coordinates the activities related to planning, developing, and integrating immunization services including school immunizations and the Vaccine for Children's Program (VFC); provides and/or assists in the supervision and training of staff, including nurses, clerical, biologics, emergency preparedness, vendors and other staff as needed. The Public Health Nurse 4 acts as a liaison with various agencies including schools, child daycares, VFC providers, health providers, pharmacies, hospitals, urgent cares, etc. The Public Health Nurse 4 monitors the data entry of school and child daycare immunization data into the Michigan Care Improvement Registry MCIR); conducts field audits in child daycare programs and VFC provider locations; conducts SIRS training and troubleshooting; participates in Quality Assurance and Emergency Preparedness services as well as other duties assigned.

ELIGIBLE PERSONS

A Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from a college or university; AND

• Valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan; AND

•Three (3) years of full-time paid nursing experience; AND

• A valid State of Michigan driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
