About the Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI):
The Indiana Department of Insurance protects Hoosiers as they purchase and use insurance products to keep their assets and their families from loss or harm. IDOI also monitors the financial solvency of insurance companies in Indiana so that legal promises in insurance policies are honored.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $75,010.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Role Overview:
This position will oversee a new division within the Indiana Department of Insurance dedicated to healthcare costs oversight and transparency. The Assistant Director works independently following executive orders, statutes, rules, regulations, and accepted guidelines. The Assistant Director can make recommendations for changes to existing programs which usually will influence agency operations. The Assistant Director possesses sufficient technical knowledge and authority for the work. Decisions and major recommendations are reviewed for compliance with agency policy and attainment of goals. The Assistant Director makes major contributions to the development and implementation of significant programs. The consequence of errors is considerable, basically directed toward adverse effects on the agency and programs.
Work is broad in scope involving complex elements that require critical and analytical abilities. The Assistant Director must be able to react to these variables ensuring proper response in accord with accepted practices and principles as the primary representative of the agency. The Assistant Director must effectively coordinate work activities in a programmatic role where authority is indirectly within the established chain of command of the organization. Judgment is essential to adapting policies, procedures, and guidelines to situations encountered, often without prior experience or guidance.
