Description of Work:

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte recognizes the differentiation of mission, goals, and objectives inherent in the diversity of disciplines represented by its colleges and departments. Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching: Lecturers in the School of Nursing play an integral role in helping to prepare graduates for entry-level practice. Essential duties associated with this position include teaching in clinical environments [e.g., hospitals, clinics], traditional classroom environments [face-to-face], and online through the current Learning Management System [LMS] or virtual simulation software. Therefore, faculty should possess excellent clinical knowledge, skills, and judgment. Primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be in undergraduate programs and may include late afternoon, evening, and/or weekends. Moreover, faculty shall be responsible for engaging in curriculum development, developing well-organized, engaging, and relevant course content for multiple methods of delivery that aligns with the AACN Essentials 2021 , adheres to North Carolina Board of Nursing [NCBON] requirements, and reflects the mission, vision, and values of the SON, the College of Health and Human Services, and the University. Faculty shall also engage in fair, timely, and equitable grading of student assignments, participate in effective student advising and mentor students through a variety of existing processes in the SON, CHHS, and University.Service: All faculty, regardless of rank, are expected to be actively engaged in service to the SON, CHHS, University, community, and/or the nursing profession. Active engagement includes direct service, policy, and governance, community engagement. The service requirement is not met through passive participation of being a member in name only.

Minimum Experience/Education:

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

A minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited program, an unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or the ability to become licensed. Additionally, candidates must have at least 2-years’ of recent clinical nursing experience, experience teaching face-to-face and online, a record of community service/engagement, experience working with diverse populations, a demonstrated ability to collaborate with others. Must hold an unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina, or eligible for licensure. Certification in specialty area, and simulation experience preferred. The School welcomes APRN applicants who have approval to practice in North Carolina. Necessary Licenses/Certifications:

Eligibility to obtain a North Carolina RN license.
