The Senior Accountant position is a role that will have significant upward mobility opportunities within the organization. While this position will not have any immediate direct reports, the role has the potential to evolve into a leadership role. Key competencies to success as the Senior Accountant include a thorough understanding of full-cycle accounting, experience with ERP system implementation and managing them, a willingness to learn and grow, a strong work ethic, a team-player mentality, high-level attention to detail and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities: - Manage NAVC’s existing accounting and financial reporting systems (Solomon SL andBI360).
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting and financial reporting systems.
- Manage all financial reporting for the department including the following:
- Develop reports in all systems, currently Acumatica and BI360.
- Act as the Administrator for these systems, becoming the product expert. Train staff and troubleshoot as required.
- Assists in evaluating current reports and recommending enhancements.
- Produce and analyze reports that assist in the monthly reporting and forecast process.
- Assist with process improvement and finding efficiencies.
- Actively participate in the month-end close process.
- Prepare and record monthly transactions in the general ledger.
- Assist with balance sheet account reconciliation process.
- Assist in annual financial audit preparation.
- Attend the annual conference in January and provide onsite support as needed.
- Support the Controller with ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed.
Required Qualifications: - BS/BA in Accounting
- 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in ERP, accounting, and financial reporting system implementation and management
- Financial Statement Development & Reporting
- Strong people skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and courteously,both written and verbally
Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced level of proficiency in VBA programming
- Knowledge of database management systems (DBMS)
- Budget preparation and financial statement analysis
- Experience in either public accounting, internal audit or corporate accounting
- Experience with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
Additional Position Information: - 5-10% travel (occasional day trips), primarily between Orlando and Gainesville, FL
