The Anatomic Pathology Lab, at Rush University Medical Center, processes approximately 40,000 samples per year. The Histotechnologist works closely with our Pathologists to prepare materials which are crucial to disease diagnosis. This position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of specimen types, from our active surgery, hematology, and dermatology services. Position Responsibilities:

• Embed and cut tissue sections, prepare, stain, and label slides according to established procedures.
• Perform immunohistochemical staining and/or Special Stains.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance, QC procedures, preparation of reagents, and basic troubleshooting of problems.
• Participate in special projects and procedures.

Position Qualifications Include:

• Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in relevant science preferred.
• Current professional laboratory certification or certification eligible from nationally recognized certifying agency, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP).
