Job Description - Staff Accountant

Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a veteran-owned healthcare and administration firm who is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team on a contract to hire basis. Details below! Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Hybrid - Columbia, MD
Conversion Salary: $80,000 - $85,000
Job Type: Contract to Hire The Accountant will assist aspects of general clerical, payroll, book-keeping and various monthly financial responsibilities. They will be responsible for maintaining positive customer and employee relations on various Government Projects. Summary of Essential Job Functions
  • Preparing financial analyses and reports.
  • Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.
  • Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts using QuickBooks.
  • Investigating and resolving account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance.
  • Supporting the development of pricing methodologies, data prep, validation, and analytics
  • Preparing invoice for government contracts and submitting via WAWF and/or other government portal
  • Creating and monitoring excel spreadsheets for various projects.
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Day to day collaboration with Human Resources and Contract Management regarding payroll, billing and timekeeping
  • Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with Quickbooks and Paylocity preferred.
  • Microsoft Office, including advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Well organized, detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to train and manage staff.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
