Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor
Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use issues, helping them on their journey to recovery. Your expertise and empathy will be pivotal in fostering a supportive environment and promoting positive change in the lives of our clients. Key Responsibilities: * Client Assessment : Conduct thorough assessments of clients to determine the extent of substance use and the impact on their physical, mental, and emotional health.
* Individual Counseling : Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to help clients understand their addiction, develop coping strategies, and set achievable recovery goals.
* Group Therapy : Facilitate group therapy sessions to encourage peer support, shared experiences, and collaborative problem-solving among clients.
* Treatment Planning : Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on client assessments, needs, and goals. Monitor and adjust plans as necessary to ensure progress.
* Education and Prevention : Educate clients and their families about substance use disorders, treatment options, and relapse prevention strategies. Promote awareness and understanding to support long-term recovery.
* Crisis Intervention : Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
* Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress. Prepare reports as required by regulatory bodies and funding sources.
* Collaboration : Work closely with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for clients. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure holistic support.
* Continuing Education : Stay updated on the latest research, trends, and best practices in substance use disorder treatment through ongoing professional development and training. Qualifications: * Education : Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
* Licensure/Certification : Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or equivalent licensure required. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred.
* Experience : Minimum of 2 years of experience in substance use disorder counseling or a related field.
