Redeemer Health Care Center is hiring a unique position to our site, a Therapeutic Activities Coordinator to join our team. In this innovative position, you will support activities and strategies for resident’s mind, health and mobility. You will work directly with the building’s staff & residents, half the time on a grant & the other half with the therapeutic recreation department! We utilize the 4Ms from IHI that include What Matters (Most), Medication, Mobility & Mentation. This is an exciting, unique opportunity!

This is a  Full-Time, benefit eligible position available working mostly weekdays with some Saturdays and a later shift once a week.

Usual Shift: Day

Late Shift Once a Week: 11:00 am to 7:30 pm

Therapeutic Activities Coordinator responsibilities:

• Drive a 14-passenger bus and assist residents on outings.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences, advocating for resident’s abilities in recreation
• Write care plans and progress notes related to Activities, Communication, Hearing, and Vision and MDS assessments for a caseload of 51 residents.
• Creatively plan programs; implement arts/crafts, cognitive games, active games, parties, and events
• Encourage, support, and assist residents with activities.
• Assist in managing therapeutic recreation programs.
• Interact and assist residents on a one to one basis outside of structured program times.
• Document activity attendance and degree of involvement.
• Act as a positive representative at all times.
• Display an attitude of courtesy and respect for all residents, families, and staff.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.

Therapeutic Activities Coordinator skills and requirements:

• Prior experience implementing activity programs to long-term-care residents or equivalent education (Occupational therapy or health/human services related field) preferred.
• Being a CTRS, COTA, or music therapist with long and short term experience preferred.
• Demonstrate good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to display enthusiasm and a positive attitude in promoting activities.
• Creative aptitude for training in arts, crafts, and games.
• Great communication skills, including ability to give directions to others in a manner that is pleasant and easily understood.
• Have problem-solving skills for a variety of mental, emotional, physical challenges of residents
• Be able to walk about 10,000 steps each day, including dozen flights of stairs, pushing people in wheelchairs up/down ramps, outside, around the building
• Be ok with having 50% of your time on your feet and 50% of your time in your office/sitting
• Must have computer and smart TV proficiency
