Job Description - Water Resources Scientist/Engineer

Lynker is seeking a full-time Water Resources Scientist or Engineer to support a variety of projects related to hydrologic modeling, streamflow forecasting, natural hazard risk assessment, climate change impact analysis, and other scientific studies in Colorado and across the US.

 

Duties of the Water Resources Scientist / Engineer will include the following:

 

  • Conducting hydrologic assessments in support of planning studies.
  • Developing and modifying scientific workflows and data processing scripts, including machine learning algorithms.
  • Analyzing and visualizing hydrometeorological and geospatial data using Python, R, or other open-source programming languages.
  • Calibrating, implementing, and evaluating hydrologic models for use in scientific studies, including for applications in flood forecasting, water supply forecasting, drought planning, and water management operations.
  • Applying technical capabilities to hazard, vulnerability, and risk assessments, water resources modeling, water quality modeling, climate change science, or other related fields.
  • Conducting geospatial analysis using Esri, QGIS, or other software.
  • Technical report preparation.
  • Assessing client needs and formulating appropriate solutions.
  • Fulfilling other duties as assigned.

The Water Resources Scientist / Engineer selected should have the following:  

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in the earth sciences (e.g., geology, geography, hydrology, climate science, meteorology), engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Programming expertise (R, Python).
  • Water resources or environmental modeling expertise.
  • Strong written and oral communication and organization skills.

 

 

The Ideal Water Resources Scientist / Engineer will have the following:  

 

  • 2+ years of experience in water resources or related physical science.
  • Graduate degree in earth science or engineering discipline.
