Job Details
ChristianaCare's Gene Editing Institute is looking for a dedicated and highly motivated Associate Scientist, who will integrate into the translational team and will be expected to utilize molecular biology and cellular techniques to contribute and collaborate with the cross-functional team of cell and molecular biologists.

The Associate Scientist will participate in supportive laboratory work under the guidance of a Principal Investigator. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting execution of gene editing projects and molecular/cellular analyses to develop gene therapeutic drugs.Principal duties and responsibilities:

Perform PCR reactions

Running gel electrophoresis

RNA/DNA/Protein isolation, purification, and quantification

Perform Sanger sequencing

Perform mammalian and primary cell culture

Close communication with team members and supervisors

Maintenance of a highly organized, technical, and detailed laboratory notebook

Perform relevant literature searches

Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; report to Group leader, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Performs other related duties as required/assigned.Qualifications:

Associate's degree in biological sciences or related field with 0 - 2 years of work experience in a biotechnology or academic research setting, required. Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field preferred.

Must have a background in biology, including hands-on experience with performing routine molecular and biochemical assays, conducting individual research projects.

Previous experience working with protein expression/purification, DNA sequencing (Sanger sequencing) and gene editing is a plus, but not mandatory.

Experience with basic biological techniques, required.
