Job Description - Director, GIO Security and Vulnerability Risk Management

Summary

Responsible for the overall strategic direction and operational execution of IHG’s Global Infrastructure Operations Security initiatives, inclusive of Engineering and Administration activities to ensure the consistency and integration of the Company’s information requirements and Information Security objectives are met; this includes the development of multiple complex systems, technical support, software/systems/network automation, provisioning, patching, and configuration. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Conducts strategic planning activities for the Infrastructure Vulnerability Risk and Audit function.
  • Provides leadership direction for the Global Technology function, for business stakeholders and ensures technical standards and requirements are documented.
  • Leads Strategic design efforts for GIO Vulnerability and Audit by working closely across multiple Global Technology Teams to collaborate on Risk and Audit issues.
  • Leads a highly skilled technical team focused on multiple concurrent projects to ensure stable performance of the systems through the monitoring, analysis, identification and resolution of systems issues in accordance with specified technical requirements, schedules and budgets. This includes, but not limited to, budget reporting, scope management, risk mitigation, and ensuring problems are diagnosed and resolved in a timely manner which also includes responsibility for people, budget, and outcomes.
  • Manage various infrastructure security platforms and application environments to include support of system patching and configuration, tracking of EOL devices and software, tracking, and remediation of critical OS and application vulnerabilities, partnering with Information Security on mission-critical Audits, documentation of processes and procedures to manage hardware and system software.
  • Conduct strategic capacity planning initiatives, manage compute/storage/network infrastructure and business continuity, and introduce continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead assigned function within established budgetary and resource plans, establish performance standards, and operating procedures.
  • Ensures Global Technology programs and projects are aligned with the Infrastructure Operations and adhere to appropriate security standards to ensure all aspects of the technology landscape (e.g., applications, data, technology, etc.) work together effectively and that project and operational costs are minimized.
  • Promotes Infrastructure Operations through the development of effective standards and governance processes. This will have the aim of maximizing the re-use of application systems and shared services and reducing time and risks in project delivery.
  • Direct and oversee the development and deployment of significant and highly complex projects to ensure solutions are developed per specified technical requirements, schedules, and budgets.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with client management and develop a strong working knowledge of client business functions and objectives. Develop competency and understanding of the client’s business and strategic direction to accurately translate client requirements into technical specifications.
  • Define ways to use technology to reduce costs and improve productivity to include implementation of new software, new modules, application upgrades, customizations, enhancements, re-engineering of systems and business process engineering. 
  • Direct, monitor and mentor on methodology, tools, templates, standards, policies, and procedures. 
  • Plan, organize and lead functions within established schedules, budgetary and resource plans; establish goals, performance standards and operating procedures for assigned functions. Participate in creation of department staffing and capital budgets.
  • Coach and develop team members; interview, hire, train employees, plan and assign work, manage performance, and address concerns and resolve matters.
  • Directs and assigns development resources to projects and manage resource demand workload within development team.
  • Lead all aspects of vendor management including selection, negotiation, dispute resolution, and long-term relationship management.

Key Skills & Experiences

Education

Bachelor’s degree with progressive work experience in Computer Science/MIS/IT, Business Administration or Engineering or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Experience

10+ years progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines, technologies or processes related to the position, as well as 5+ years of demonstrated experience establishing organizational structure and allocation of duties through management of subordinate team.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Substantial leadership level technical experience and expert-level in Technology Services and Information Security Operations thinking for complex multi-year transformation activities that will directly contribute to IHG’s strategic programs and projects.
  • Breadth and experience of IT design, development and technical knowledge.
  • Understanding of technology platforms, and how they interact with the hardware and software platforms chosen.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in executive presentation and escalation management.
  • Ability to work across multiple levels of the organization from developers to senior leadership team members.
  • Strong leadership by influence, adaptability to multiple styles of management and decision authority.
  • The ability to proactively identify problems and recommend solutions – strong process improvement capabilities.
  • The ability to accept and manage changing priorities and address issues quickly and professionally.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and a commitment to lead others to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Container Technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) , Virtualization (e.g. VMware vSphere, KVM), Operating Systems (e.g. Linux, Windows, IOS), Systems/Storage (e.g. Cisco UCS, EMC VNX), Converged/Hyper-converged infrastructure (e.g. VCE vBlock, Nutanix), Cisco routing/switching, Orchestration / Automation Experience (e.g. DevOps and Agile practices), Configuration management (e.g. Chef), Load Balance Technologies (e.g. F5), ELK (Elastic) log management, Voice technologies (e.g. Genesys, IVR, CTI integration, Chat and automated response), Call recording platforms (e.g. Verint), Server management platform (e.g. Jira, ServiceNow).
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Owns

  • Operating budget management of at least $1.5M or greater.
  • 3 rd Party vendor evaluation and selection experience in evaluating contracts, process design specification.
  • Security Audit experience, including audit remediation oversight, budget, and resource management.
