Fraud & Risk Investigator I

Role Summary

Supports the proactive & reactive assessment and mitigation of fraud and safety risk to travelers, partners, suppliers, and Expedia Group as a whole.

Experience

What You'll do:

  • Demonstrates ability to handle several tasks and meet deliverables with minimal error
  • Figures out the relative impact and urgency of individual tasks
  • Appropriately makes difficult trade-offs on time and resources when faced with conflicting demands and high priority deadlines
  • Demonstrates an ability to work efficiently while resolving pre-populated cases while occasionally assisting with specialty work
  • Identifies areas where efficiency and process improvement are needed within own work area
  • Applies new ideas or approaches to own work to enhance outputs
  • Coordinates with team members to execute new ideas or approaches and achieve process improvement goals
  • Expected to implement existing process and identify gaps in investigation process and/or reporting and documentation process and capabilities.
  • May execute pre-written database queries
  • Expected to identify patterns across geography, period of time, topics, issue types and implemented all-encompassing approach
  • Expected to recognize and understand communicated trends.
  • Able to identify patterns and apply labels when attributes may not consistently point to a pattern
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of applicable regulations, policies and industry standards, and uses this information to appropriately remediate issues as they arise
  • Appropriately escalates potential compliance gaps or issues as identified during the course of normal work
  • Evaluates risk on cases as assigned including escalations from lower level analysts or other teams
  • Expected to understand and recognize communicated fraud trends when encountered in daily case management work
  • Capable of making reasoned decisions on individual cases with ambiguous or conflicting information, which may include overturning others decisions when appropriate
  • Learns to accurately identify risk within output from pre-written database queries
  • Interacts with internal and external contacts by phone and email on routine investigations. Resolves individual outcomes of conversations when necessary.
  • Develops understanding of how the department operates and fits into the larger organization
  • Develops awareness of the policies, practices, trends and information that impact the organization and its customers
  • Develops an understanding of the financial impact of decisions and solutions on the organization and its customers

Who You Are:

  • 2+ years with Associate's Degree
  • Education
  • Equivalent experience (to education)
  • 2-4 years applicable experience = Associate's Degree
  • Education
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Additional Trust & Safety Education (if applicable)
  • Safety Certification

Functional/ Technical Skills

  • Initiative (e.g. proactiveness, problem solving, "go get what's next")
  • Time Management (e.g. prioritization, attendance, timeliness)
  • Attention to Detail (e.g. quality assurance, peer review)
  • Communication Skills (e.g. verbal, non-verbal, written, listening)
  • Technical Skills (e.g. intermediate demonstrable knowledge of core Microsoft Office product suite, SharePoint, Confluence, OneDrive, Jira, Salesforce)
  • Industry Knowledge preferred
  • Customer Service Skills (e.g. stakeholder management, conflict resolution)
  • Languages (may require bi/multi-lingual)
The total cash range for this position in Springfield is $37,000.00 to $51,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $59,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
