Qualifications

What you will be doing:

• Prepare and cook a wide range of menu items, ensuring high-quality and consistent results.
• Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and execute menus for various outlets.
• Assist in monitoring inventory levels and ensure proper storage and rotation of food items.
• Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new menu items and culinary concepts.
• Contribute to maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
• Uphold the Fairmont brand standards of quality and excellence.
• Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
• Assist in other areas of the kitchen or hotel operations as needed.

Your experience and skills include:

• Able to work in a high-pressure environment.
• Minimum 3 years cooking experience in at least two different kitchen sections i.e. Gardé manger, banquets, a la carte, breakfast etc.
• Valid Food Handler Certificate required.
• Experience in a luxury hotel with comparable service and standards an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a team player.
• Previous experience, minimum of three years, in the culinary field required.
• Diploma/Certification in a culinary discipline an asset

Physical Requirements Include:

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs
• Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
