Minnesota Department of Education is searching for an experienced, motivated, innovative and collaborative individual with a passion for education K-12 to be the next Academic Standards Supervisor.
The Academic Standards Supervisor has the opportunity to:
Within the Academic Standards, Instruction, and Assessment Division, the Academic Standards Supervisor works closely with MDE Content Specialists, Data and Reporting, Communications and Test Development. This cohesive approach throughout the division allows for individual districts to obtain support for a balanced system of student-centered learning incorporating academic standards, instruction, and assessment.
In addition, as the Academic Standards Supervisor, you have the opportunity to network and learn from many stakeholders across the state of Minnesota and develop partnerships within the Division of Academic Standards, Instruction, and Assessment to ensure academic standards are being taught with the appropriate levels of rigor for all students to access across all content areas no matter the student’s zip codes.
The Division of Academic Standards, Instruction, and Assessment supports the development of training resources for schools to successfully implement academic standards and balanced assessment systems.
The division works to develop a shared understanding of the academic standards and benchmarks in each specific content area.
If you are a person who is interested in examining learning and achievement through the lenses of knowledge, skills, and rigor in the standards and benchmarks, identifying universal concepts, instructional pedagogy, backward design, innovation, equity, diversity, inclusion and the interconnectedness of pedagogy, instruction, and outcome data, you are the person this position is designed for.
6 years of professional experience as an educator or educational leadership role in K-12, Post-Secondary, or private school OR as an academic researcher, or curriculum developer
OR
A bachelors’ or master’s degree and 5 years of professional experience as an educator or educational leadership role in K-12, Post-Secondary, or private school OR as an academic researcher, or curriculum developer
Experience as a supervisor or manager (providing direct staff oversight)
Knowledge of academic standards and connection with test results, scoring/reporting, and research functions.
