Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Temporary Biological Sciences Research Technician 1 position for the Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
This position will be located in Newport, Oregon
This position will support Pacific oyster research at the USDA Pacific Shellfish Research Unit. The incumbent will be in charge of performing samplings, DNA and RNA extractions and other basic molecular biology tasks, maintaining buffer stocks, and organizing benches and workspaces. The incumbent may also help with tasks including husbandry work and data collection during field trips.
As a member of the Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station, the incumbent will be expected to work closely with coastal communities and federal, state, and private organizations in support of the COMES mission “to understand, utilize, and sustain marine resources and coastal ecosystems in order to benefit the citizens of Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, the Nation, and the World.” The candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What We Require
Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science); OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
What You Will Need
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
B.S degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology.
Experience working in the field (sampling, taking data)
Laboratory experience in molecular biology and/or microbiology.
Experience in aquatic animals and aquarium sciences.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
