Job Title: Buyer

Compensation: $80-90k+ based on experience

About Us: Kelly has partnered with a premiere customer in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and looking for a Buyer to join their team!

The Buyer plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations by managing supplier orders and maintaining optimal inventory levels of raw materials. This position requires proactive management of business processes to guarantee on-time delivery, supporting the organization's production plans. The Buyer will collaborate closely with the plant scheduler to ensure seamless material flow throughout the manufacturing process, while also integrating global commodity strategies developed by Strategic Sourcing Managers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilize MRP to manage inventory levels of raw materials and packaging, ensuring alignment with sourcing and operational guidelines.

  • Collaborate with the plant scheduler to determine the appropriate balance of raw materials considering various factors such as shelf-life, contracts, inventory targets, and vendor requirements.

  • Analyze historical data and future forecasts to adapt to changing vendor lead-times and prevent supply interruptions.

  • Collaborate with the receiving clerk on timely and accurate receipt of material, both direct and indirect.

  • Manage delivery of bulk raw material tanks into the plant, ensuring timely deliveries and efficient unloading.

  • Create purchase orders (POs) in alignment with system parameters and conduct purchasing activities using Adage and Ariba.

  • Maintain accurate inbound delivery dates in Adage to optimize production scheduling and escalate delays when necessary.

  • File Quality Notifications (QNs) for raw materials not meeting requirements set forth by the organization.

  • Ensure timely resolution of invoice discrepancies to facilitate prompt payment to suppliers.

  • Develop and manage reports on vendor on-time delivery performance.

  • Utilize the Adage system to support planning activities and ensure Inventory Turns/Cover achieves defined targets.

  • Identify and escalate issues related to shifts in raw material demand, providing recommendations to adjust MRP data.

  • Monitor incoming purchase orders via exception messages within Adage and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in purchasing, scheduling, or planning roles preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to adapt to change and take individual accountability for results.

  • Desire and capability to learn and continuously improve processes.

  • Ability to travel up to 5%.

Preferences:

  • APICS CPIM certification

  • SAP, Adage, and Asics ERP experience

  • Microsoft Excel and Word applications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, associate degree, OR High School Diploma with 5+ years of experience in a similar manufacturing position.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and math skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 5%
