Job Description - Collegiate Recovery Program Coordinator

Job Description Summary:

Oversee and coordinate the new Collegiate Recovery Program at OU. The person in this position will develop and implement educational, social, and service programs for the CRP , as well as oversee all aspects of the program, including promotion of the program. The goals for this new program are:

  • Provide a safe, inclusive and supportive community to students who are in all stages of recovery
  • Foster student-centered recovery through physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being
  • Reduce health disparities in addiction within marginalized communities by providing support for OU students from those communities
  • Positively impact student learning objectives, educational outcomes and professional aspirations for OU students in recovery
  • Connect students in recovery with supporting resources and community connections, including but not limited to the on-campus OU Counseling Center and other partners
  • Provide education and awareness about substance use and addiction on campus that promotes healing, long-term recovery and reduces addiction stigmas.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of two years experience working in a relevant position.
  • Familiarity with various pathways to recovery and a recovery-oriented continuum of care.
  • Knowledge of issues specific to young adults in recovery.
  • Experience with program development, coordination and evaluation.
  • Ability to run groups and perform outreach services with a diverse population of students, staff and faculty.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Licensed or license eligible as a social worker, counselor, psychologist (or relevant degree) in the State of Michigan (must obtain license within one year of hire).
  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor ( CSAC ) or Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist ( LCAS ) in the state of Michigan.
  • Professional experience in higher education, with emphasis on direct student interaction.
