The Georgetown - Howard Center for Medical Humanities and Health Justice (MHHJ) invites applications for its Spring 2025 Faculty Fellowship on our annual theme of 'lore.' The Faculty Fellowship, available to Georgetown and Howard faculty only , is an opportunity for faculty whose interdisciplinary research sits at the intersection of humanities and health justice. As a semester-long fellowship project, proposed research ideas should be fully developed and beyond the discovery phase. Fellowship Outcomes and Outputs The outcomes and outputs of a fellowship award may include, but are not limited to, peer-reviewed articles, public and engaged scholarship, digital materials and databases, oral histories, archival projects, and/or expressive and creative projects. Fellows are expected to organize at least one public-facing workshop, conference, or event during the semester. Fellows may collaborate with the Center's Director of Research and Public Policy in literature review, data analysis, and grant writing and submissions. Fellows may also be asked to serve on selection and review committees. The stipend amounts and fellow tenure are individually determined according to the needs of the scholars and the Center's ability to meet them. The maximum award amount (salary fringe for course buyouts or unpaid leave) for this fellowship is $30,000. The period of performance is six months (aligning with an academic semester). We encourage applicants to structure their budgets and work plans in ways that best fit their research goals and professional commitments. Applications must be endorsed by the candidate's unit director or department chair.
