Position Highlights:

  • To deliver highly specialized, advanced technical care to patients undergoing advanced Endoscopy procedures in accordance with national SGNA standards, established hospital standards, and unit policies and procedures.
  • Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the GI Associate acts as a first assistant to the physicians, handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the procedure, anticipates the needs of the physician and team, and has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care.

The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have the following:
    • Advanced endoscopy experience and skills
    • Successful completion of SGNA Associate/Advanced Associate Program
    • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program
    • Experience with operation and handling of basic endoscopes and equipment




Responsibilities :
    • The GI Associate is responsible for assisting with support services in the delivery of care to Endoscopy patients, including transportation, independent inventory management, patient prep, environmental cleanliness and direct assistance to Endoscopy RN's, physicians, patients, visitors and staff.
    • This role includes assignments in other ancillary/technical roles within Perioperative Services as needed.




Credentials and Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of basic Endoscopy procedures and GI anatomy
    • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or at least 3 years of Endoscopy Tech experience
    • SGNA Certification is required
    • BLS Certification
