Job Description - Hr staff consultant

Are you inspired to build better workplaces through compliance, culture and connection? If you are an experienced senior level HR Generalist or HR Manager and love the idea of supporting employers of all sizes from different industries, Cascade Employers Association has just the position for you. Cascade has immediate opportunities for experienced HR professionals to join our team of HR Flex Staff Consultants. In this position, you will be providing onsite and remote HR support for organizations on a variety of HR matters.

This part-time, hybrid position gives you the flexibility and opportunity to have the best of all work worlds.

What our HR Flex Staff Consultants do:

Our HR Flex Staff Consultants jump in to provide support when:

  • An HR team needs interim staffing support
  • An organization has no HR team and needs help with the basics
  • An HR team is in transition

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing onsite and remote support to member organizations for all aspects of HR, including but not limited to: compliance (family leave, ADA, wage and hour, equal pay, harassment, discrimination, etc.); employee relations, performance management, recruitment, employee engagement, benefit programs, payroll, disciplinary actions, separations, policy reviews, investigations, onboarding, development and maintenance of common HR documents and forms such as handbooks and job descriptions, and HR team and strategy development.
  • Advising employers on approaches and methods that connect compliance, HR programs and practices and overall business needs by responding directly to requests for information and guidance in various HR and employment areas, including but not limited to: compliance, harassment and discrimination concerns, HR strategy, review and development of human resources processes and tools, such as employee handbooks, job descriptions, and other employment policies and documents; and conducting workplace investigations.

  • Have a solid HR foundation. Your broad hands-on, day-to-day experience in HR and understanding of rules and regulations will help you provide immediate input and support for the organizations you’ll be working with.
  • Are quick to connect.  You are quick to connect with people and enjoy being in a service-oriented role. We have a collaborative environment at Cascade and enjoy working as a team but in this position, you will also work independently with our members on their HR needs.
  • Are self-driven. You have an eagerness to take on new things. You know when something needs to be done and will take the initiative to collaborate with others to get it done.

  • Flexibility. Our environment allows you to maximize the use of your time while making sure our members have our full support and attention. This position can work both on-site and remote but you must reside in Oregon, ideally between Portland and Salem.

 

  • Comprehensive benefits. Taking care of you is important to us. This position pays $46/hr. and is part-time. There is room to add more hours if desired. In addition to having a flexible schedule, part-time employees are eligible for PTO and opportunities to attend free HR and Leadership classes. We also have generous volunteer time off, along with 12 paid holidays. Positions that grow into full-time will be eligible for health, vision, dental insurance, STD, LTD and a 401(k) plan with a 3% contribution.

To perform the work in this role, you should have the following:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on human resources, business management or other similar field and at least 5-10 years of HR experience. 
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are required to work effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Solid knowledge of employment laws such as family leave, ADA, wage and hour and other similar laws is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and use various HR technology platforms.
  • Excellent customer service skills required. 
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in various software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple on-going projects.
  • Requires current driver’s license and reliable transportation as this position may require regular local travel.
