Position Overview

Under direction of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)/Workers Compensation Compliance (WC) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) supervisor for the Division of Family & Community Services provides professional human resources assistance for the FMLA/WC/ADA supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Performs professional human resource assignments for the unit. Provides professional assistance to the supervisor, performing highly technical review and interpretation of the FMLA, WC and ADA programs; counsels employees on programs.
  2. Performs highly technical reviews of requests within the employee programs and determine eligibility and validity; counsels employees, supervisors and requestors on proper submission of related documents.
  3. Responds to sensitive and controversial inquiries related to FMLA/WC/ADA; provides interpretation and explanation of the rules, policies and procedures related to specific issues.
  4. Serves as liaison to the division’s staff, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Payroll and Attorney General Offices.
  5. Directs the maintenance of FMLA/WC/ADA database usages; develops reports for supervisor/management.
  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
  2. Requires one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources OR satisfactory completion of an approved training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. One (1) year of professional experience working with the Family Medical Leave Act, Personnel Code, Rules, Pay Plan, Collective Bargaining Contracts, departmental policies, procedures and processes.
  2. One (1) year of professional experience utilizing Personnel code, Rules, Collective Bargaining Contracts, departmental policies and procedures.
  3. One (1) year of professional experience communicating effectively (written or oral) to resolve human resource/workplace leave protection issues and adopt efficient and effective course(s) of action.
  4. One (1) year of professional experience organizing and analyzing information/data with development of descriptive or quantitative measures, and placed information/data into like categories or groupings.
  5. One (1) year of professional experience working with human resources rules, regulations and procedures.
  6. One (1) year of professional personnel experience in a private or public organization maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
