At MCCCD, Human Resources Departments are charged with building an organizational culture where people matter and come first. At the local college, Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is a small, fast-paced and collaborative HR team with a high focus on exceptional customer service, cultural competence, compliance and confidentiality.
PVCC is seeking a Human Resources Specialist, Senior who is driven and research oriented to perform a variety of talent acquisition and payroll duties in support of Human Resources functions. The ideal candidate fosters collaboration with a customer-centric focus, has experience working with diverse work groups, looks to proactively solve problems, and takes an active interest in expanding the diversity, equity and inclusion talent in the employee lifecycle of the College. Under general supervision, the HR Specialist, Senior will assist with the coordination and administration of recruitment and retention activities to ensure a sense of belonging for all employees. As a lead worker, this position will oversee committee chair consultations for full-time recruitment. Actively participates with new employee onboarding/orientation and training for search committees, as well as provide payroll support. This position requires a physical presence on the Union Hills campus, as well as travel to the Black Mountain campus.

The Aspen Institute evaluates various criteria in its selection process and validates the levels of active and engaged learning in the classroom and the progress PVCC is making with the implementation of Guided Pathways.

50% Support the HR team in the technology-driven full cycle recruitment process and personnel transactions to include electronic screening and interview materials with data formula creation in Google Sheets, dissemination, tracking, monitoring as well as communicating necessary information to the hiring teams. Daily, the technology platforms will include Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Human Capital Management (HCM), Student Information System (SIS), Financial Management System (FMS), Interviewer Assistant, EVerify, and electronic background systems, as well as other systems needed to meet the needs of the business. This position reviews and researches Intent to Hire forms to enter job postings in HCM. The HR Specialist Senior works directly with hiring managers by advising and consulting on the hiring of full-time positions including applicant pools/materials, routing, as well as coordinating screening and interview sessions. The Human Resources Specialist Senior processes background checks, assists with onboarding to meet with new hires to collect essential documents (e.g. electronic I-9 management, tax forms and direct deposit). This position will assist with the full and part-time hiring process.
15% Responsible for creating, maintaining, updating full-time personnel files and records to adhere to federal and state employment laws, MCCCD policies and Higher Learning Commission requirements. In accordance with state and federal laws, maintains personnel files to meet compliance.
15% Responsible for appropriately addressing and routing inquiries received at the front desk and through the department's team email account and general phone line, following up to ensure questions and issues have been addressed satisfactorily with exceptional customer service. Communicates district employment policies and processes as needed.
15% Conducts research for special projects, salary reviews, additional requests, and participates in team building in support of recruitment, selection and hiring activities, as well as function as a key presenter for campus events.
5% Actively participate on local college and districtwide committes and workgroups as assigned.
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of human resources program support experience related to area of assignment. (Reference Position Specific Responsibilities above to determine experience in area of assignment).
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
1. Two or more years' experience working in a functional human resources setting at a college or university.
2. Experience as lead worker consulting with hiring committees, organizing screening and interview sessions.
3. Experience posting jobs utilizing PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM).
4. Experience assisting customers at the front desk in a human resources department.
5. Experience with I-9 program administration, collecting data and producing reports and responsibility for document archiving.
6. Experience handling confidential information and highly sensitive matters in a human resources department.
7. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
