Job Summary


The job of Human Resources Technician performs a wide variety of complex clerical functions related to the employment of certificated or classified employee programs; maintains a variety of employee forms, records, reports, and databases; provides assistance to prospective and current employees.


Requirements / Qualifications


Requires three years of increasingly responsible clerical or secretarial experience including complex record keeping, reviewing and processing documents for accuracy and compliance with program requirements, and involving public contact. One or more years of experience in Human Resources or working with personnel-related matters; experience in a school district or public administration environment is preferred but not required. Proficiency with databases (data entry, searches, reporting), word processing, and electronic spreadsheets is required.

Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in an examination process. Exam components may consist of a Multiple Choice exam, 20% weight, Performance Exam, 30% weight, and QAI, 50% weight. Specific information about the examination process will be emailed to prospective candidates after the filing deadline.


The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as Open/Promotional-Dual Certification: candidates who pass all exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months.


If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Prior to the application deadline, a request to transfer score(s) should be e-mailed to: . Transferring of exam scores does not apply to the Qualifications Appraisal Interview.


Veterans may be eligible for preference points on entrance examinations ("entrance" is defined as candidates who are not current employees of the District). Please attach a copy of your DD214 to your application.


Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance.


The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer.
