Job Description - Inspection System Tech

JOB SUMMARY

  • Provide inspection system technical support in an effort to improve equipment run time, increase productivity, reduce scrap while maintaining and/or improving product quality. Reports to the Engineering Manager.
  • Support business growth through developing new or improving existing inspection system processes.
  • Supports business continuity by making recommendations to improve equipment utilization and reduce scrap.
  • Ensures products are commercialized in accordance with Quality, Product Safety, and Regulatory Standards.
  • Maintains industry contacts (raw material and equipment suppliers) for the awareness of flexible packaging materials, converting processes, and packaging equipment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides inspection system support for operators, quality personnel, product development and procurement
  • Carries out complex or innovative assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures
  • Develops and evaluates inspection system recipes/programs
  • Maintains and optimizes existing recipes
  • Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities
  • Assists with trials; provides inspection system support
  • Serves as an active participant or resource on at least one team, also provides leadership on a team
  • May lead or coordinate the work of others
  • Adheres to all Company Safety rules and regulations
  • Troubleshoots issues with customers, suppliers, and internal groups; provide technical support
  • Develops and implements solutions for manufacturing scrap improvements
  • Develops repeatable process conditions that ensure products are made at a high quality level
  • Helps in the development of product structures that meet the customer requirements and can be run successfully on production equipment
  • Identifies and secures necessary manufacturing supplies to support inspection system operations
  • Controls costs by proactively controlling expenses and eliminating waste
  • Contributes to a team effort by proactively assisting internal contacts.
  • Provides training on inspection system operations and changes.
  • Attend training programs to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Requires some overnight travel by various modes of transportation including airline, train, and automobile as deemed appropriate
  • Able to work extended hours as required
  • Continuous contact with other people requiring communications via face-to-face, orally by telephone and various written methodology's

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • Associates degree in Technical or Engineering field or Non-degreed with minimum 5 years of progressive experience
  • Ability to present ideas and information concisely and effectively; organizes logically, uses appropriate terminology; maintains audience attention; presence and self-command in front of a group or one-to-one
  • Writes ideas and information concisely and effectively; organizes logically; uses appropriate grammar, supporting data/charts.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and develop cooperative working relationships with peers, subordinates and management; shows awareness of, and consideration for, the opinions and feelings of others
  • Must be able to meet agreed upon deadlines for project completion, keeping enthusiasm, maintains expected punctuality and work attendance
  • Possess analytical and problem solving skills and is detail oriented.
  • Proficient in math
  • Basic knowledge of inspection systems
  • Experience with Isra, Teledyne, Intelspec, Keyance, Specmetric, and Moistech systems a plus
  • Familiarity with internal processes and practices a plus
  • Assumes leadership or responsibility - Takes charge and initiates actions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
