Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking to hire a highly motivated individual to work in a fast-paced Human Resources Office. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter and be excited to help current staff advance their career and prospective staff gain employment with our Agency. Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as a certified Statewide interviewer for Public Safety Agencies.
  2. Assisting with creating interview tools prior to posting. Serves as a liaison to CMS, Agency Management, and field staff on issues relating to the Interview and Selection hiring process.
  3. Utilizes the computer to check for qualifications of applicants.
  4. Prepares confidential reports, spreadsheets and correspondence involving staffing plans, status of approvals and employee candidate information including confidential salary information.
  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college.
  2. Requires one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources or satisfactory completion of approved training program.

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

  1. Prefers one (1) year of human resources experience in a hiring unit as part of an interview and selection program.
  2. Prefers one (1) or more years professional experience gaining knowledge of the Personnel Code, Personnel Rules, Position Classification Plan, Pay Plan, Collective Bargaining Contracts, the structured interview process, Veterans Preference, the Comprehensive Employment Plan, and/or departmental policies and procedures.
  3. Prefers one (1) or more years professional experience gaining knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity Act, Civil Rights Act, Interview and Selection rules and guidelines derived there from.
  4. Prefers one (1) or more courses in Rapid Results or Lean 6 Sigma.
  5. Prefers one (1) or more years of experience with reading, assimilating information and data, and recall, with a reasonable degree of proficiency, facts and figures.
  6. Prefers one (1) or more years of experience communicating in oral and written form with both internal and external candidates.
  7. Prefers one (1) or more years of experience utilizing personnel-related computer systems, such as Success Factors or other related Human Capital Management HCM system.
  8. Prefers one (1) or more years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite including SharePoint and Excel.

  2. Requires the ability to work overtime as needed.
  3. Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
