Job Duties

This position is an intermittent appointment type. It is allotted 1,000 hours per fiscal year.

About Us:

The State Board of Education is made up of 19 members - 11 who are elected and eight who are appointed by the governor. The chairs of the education committees of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate serve as non-voting ex officio members. The Superintendent of Public Instruction serves as secretary of the State Board of Education.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT MISSION

What You'll Do:

  • Evaluate applications for educator licensure for professional conduct concerns including:
    • Reviewing FBI and BCI background checks,
    • Analyzing application disclosures,
    • Check national database for misconduct reports, and
    • leveraging other resources.
  • Record and document any professional conduct concerns and make a determination if an application can be issued.
  • Independently answer complex and confidential questions.
  • Process background checks to securely and timely store them in agency systems.
  • Draft and send correspondence regarding applications, Rapback, and background checks.

Qualifications


12 mos. exp. as investigator/inspector (e.g., law enforcement officer, insurance investigator); valid driver's license.



  • Or 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in receipt, research & resolution of public complaints involving possible violations of company/agency policies & procedures or state/federal laws & rules; valid driver's license.


  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Background Check Information


The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check as well as other investigative reviews. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position, unless restricted under state or federal law or federal restrictions. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

The final applicant for this position will be required to submit urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to an appointment. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year.
