Job Description - Italian Lecturer

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Washington University in St. Louis seeks to hire a full-time lecturer in Italian, on the teaching track, starting in August 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

This role requires duties equivalent to a full-time teaching load, which may include a combination of teaching and other departmental service and advising as appropriate. Teaching-track faculty in Romance Languages and Literatures regularly have an assignment of three courses per semester in addition to a service component.

Each year Washington University publishes a Safety and Security brochure that details what to do and whom to contact in an emergency. This report also publishes the federally required annual security and fire safety reports, containing campus crime and fire statistics as well as key university policies and procedures. You may access the Safety and Security brochure at  .

Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D./terminal degree in Italian or a related field by the time of appointment. We seek a colleague able to teach at all levels of our undergraduate program, whose teaching interests complement existing departmental strengths. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in Cinema, Medical Humanities/Medical Italian, or Food Culture. Experience or interest in leading study abroad programs is also welcome.

Applications should consist of a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, a teaching statement of no more than two pages, and three letters of reference. All application materials should be submitted via  Interfolio

Applications received by May 15 will receive full consideration; review of applications will continue until the search is concluded.
