Junior Site Reliability Engineer

Yoh has an immediate need for a Junior Site Reliability Engineer. 1 year Assignment and fully REMOTE Pay up to $45 per hour w2 based on experience. 

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an SRE or software development role, demonstrating a record of accomplishment of technical skill and successful problem-solving.

• Proficiency in scripting languages and experience with Windows or Linux command-line tools, showcasing strong technical versatility.
• Solid understanding of network fundamentals, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and network architecture design.
• Java development experience, illustrating strong coding skills and understanding of software engineering best practices.
• Good knowledge of at least one cloud platform, ideally AWS, showing practical experience in cloud-based infrastructure management and operations.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies, preferably AWS EKS, Kubernetes, or Docker, indicating hands-on experience and understanding of modern deployment strategies.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, demonstrating experience with automation tools and methodologies in software deployment.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the setup and maintenance of cloud infrastructure, particularly using platforms like AWS, ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient operations.
• Help develop and deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, promoting automation and version control of infrastructure.
• Contribute to the automation of deployment processes, aiming to minimize manual intervention, increase deployment speed, and enhance reliability.
• Assist in optimizing system performance and resource utilization, ensuring the infrastructure is cost-effective, efficient, and meets operational requirements.
• Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline system installation, configuration, and maintenance processes, enhancing consistency and reliability across environments.
• Support the enhancement of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, facilitating continuous integration and continuous deployment practices.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate their solutions into the automated pipeline, ensuring smooth and reliable deployment of applications.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of applications and services, fostering a collaborative environment that supports operational excellence.
• Provide technical support to development teams, assisting in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues to maintain high service levels.
• Assist in implementing comprehensive monitoring solutions using tools such as NewRelic, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk, to proactively monitor system health and performance.
• Engage in the incident response process, contributing to quick service restoration, system recovery, and thorough post-mortem analysis to prevent future incidents.
• Support the setup of advanced monitoring systems and develop alerting mechanisms to proactively notify teams of potential system issues.
• Document technical procedures, configurations, and specifications to ensure that operational knowledge is accurately maintained and shared across the team.
• Evaluate and automate scaling and capacity planning within AWS environments to ensure efficient resource use and system responsiveness.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation following a follow-the-sun model, providing reliable and timely support to maintain high availability and performance of services.
