The Laboratory Technician II role is responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work supporting scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling, and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs, and summaries.

This position will work with members of the laboratory of Dr. Taran Gujral in the Division of Human Biology. This position provides a rich environment to learn about cell biology and the drug discovery process. Candidates will also have the opportunity to present their research during lab meetings and scientific conferences and to write, submit, and publish scientific papers.

Responsibilities

• Culture and maintain a collection of cell lines
• Prepare samples and carry out biochemical and PCR-based assays
• Use various software packages to analyze data from assays.
• Will work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• One year of college coursework emphasizing laboratory science or equivalent or one year experience as a Laboratory Tech I or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with LN2 and ultralow freezers will be given preference.
• General computer/data entry experience required.
• College level chemistry courses preferred.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.14 to $28.67 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
