Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the Library Collections Operations Manager, performs a variety of duties associated with the circulation, transfer, and maintenance of the physical collections and records at two different locations—Baker Berry Library and the Library Collections Services Facility (LCSF) as needed and required.

Associates or equivalent combination of education and experience



Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • One to three years of library collections, records management, library storage operations, warehouse or related work experience.


  • Comfortable working at heights up to 30 feet and in temperatures ranging from 50 – 60 degrees Fahrenheit.


  • The ability to lift 50 pound boxes throughout a work-day.


  • Ability to lift materials overhead


  • Must be able to operate a variety of warehouse machinery, including manual and powered lifts.


  • Ability to comprehend complex filing systems.


  • Demonstrated creative thinking and problem-solving skills.


  • The ability to work in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment.


  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.




Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience.


  • Prior experience working in an academic research library.


  • Experience with OnBase, ILLiad, Alma and other library or records management software.


  • Experience operating a variety of warehouse machinery, including manual and powered lifts.

Key Accountabilities

Description

Performs daily collection management and stacks maintenance duties at Baker Berry Library, including reshelving circulating materials. Ensures the accuracy of locations and labels so that resources are discoverable by users. Ingests new volumes and assigns shelving locations.

Description

Assists with collections/stacks/records management special projects, including shelf cleaning, collection shifting, and records disposition.

Description

Coordinates and executes requests, retrievals, delivery processes, and refiles physical material at Dartmouth’s high density storage facility—the LCSF. Works with other departments within the library to determine the information being requested. Performs complex computer and hard copy research to identify records to be retrieved.

Description

Executes record digitization projects as assigned for document conversion into systems, such as OnBase, and for on-demand file delivery. Retrieves and prepares materials for interlibrary loan and resource sharing services, including scanning articles and book chapters to fulfill resource sharing and document delivery requests. Assists with other digitization and resource sharing projects as needed.

Description

Attends staff meetings and participates in the development and evaluation of departmental policies, goal setting, procedures, and workflow. Stays current on best practices for circulating library collections and offsite storage facilities.
