The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner II in the PICU is an advanced practice nurse who provides nursing and medical services to patients Responsibilities include ordering, conducting and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests; prescription of pharmacologic agents and treatments and non-pharmacologic therapies in a cost efficient manner Works autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage clients health care problems

Responsibilities
• Provides nursing and medical services to patients in the PICU • Emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention • Diagnoses and manages acute and chronic diseases • Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests • Prescribes pharmacologic agents and treatments, as well as non-pharmacologic therapies • Works autonomously and collaborates with others to diagnose and manage healthcare problems • Serves as a healthcare resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate • Follows applicable policies and procedures for handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment
Requirements
• Three years acute pediatric experience as a PNP preferred • Will accept NP with 1-2 years of acute peds NP experience with strong prior acute peds RN experience in the PICU • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing • Current California Registered Nurse License and current certification as a Nurse Practitioner • National certification as appropriate - preferred • Eligible for Furnishing License - preferred
