TITLE: Outreach Coordinator

LOCATION : Vancouver, WA (Evergreen Public Schools)

REPORTS TO: Outreach Manager

DEPARTMENT: Outreach – Youth Violence Prevention & Intervention

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Outreach - Youth Violence Prevention & Intervention Program matches youth living in areas impacted by group violence with mentors to build positive relationships and connect them with opportunities and resources. Under the supervision of the Outreach Manager, the Outreach Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with community partners to help identify and support at least 30 middle school and high school program participants, implement evidence-based prevention programming, attend and support partner schools, coordinate family involvement activities, and work collaboratively with others on the Outreach Team to track youth outcomes.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Mentoring Relationship

  • Serve as an advocate and mentor for youth by providing academic support and activities that help to build life skills and promote positive social development.

Outreach and Retention

  • Case manage, support, and retain at least 30 youth by providing access to programs, providing prosocial activities, co-designing goals, navigating resources with families, and offering encouragement.
  • Assess the needs of family members as related to the program participants’ goals, identify affected siblings of participants, and make referrals to appropriate services with Outreach/BGC Teams.
  • Conduct school, home, and community visits with the Outreach Team.

Supervision and Safety

  • Increase coordination with community partners to strengthen the program.
  • Complete documentation as required for contacts with and services provided to youth on a timely basis.
  • Maintain confidential records.
  • Comply with organizational policies for the protection of youth.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Understand and meet requirements of grants and work collaboratively with other coordinators and directors to gather data and complete outcomes reports.
  • Plan and attend social and recreational activities as well as community service and engagement opportunities for program youth.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Outreach Manager.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • At least one year of successful experience performing client-directed services in related fields such as social service, grassroots organization, community advocacy, or prevention with youth living in underserved communities.
  • Familiarity with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington and Evergreen Public Schools.
  • General knowledge of the culture of violence and group-affiliated violence.
  • Desire to work with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of local agencies' programs and services (schools and social services), local units of government, and grassroots organizations.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to engage and build meaningful relationships with program participants and other impacted/affected youth and families in the community.
  • Capacity to understand, relate to, and respect the needs of program participants of diverse ethnic, cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Professional communicator - written and verbal - and willingness to collaborate with staff, parents, and volunteers.
  • Effective at collaborating with various types of organizations, including schools, social service agencies, government agencies, law enforcement agencies, and grassroots organizations.
  • Exercises good judgment regarding appropriate information sharing, confidentiality requirements, and human relations.
  • Able to prepare and/or research and implement evidence-based programming.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks and working independently, and with direction from the program supervisor.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Operate a computer to collect and monitor data, maintain records, and generate reports.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $19.00 - $22.00 per hour, DOE
  • 12 paid Holidays per year
