The Payroll Specialist is responsible for:

• receiving and keying all temporary personnel payroll, deductions, reimbursements.
• verifying accuracy of time submitted and distributing to field staff offices.
• customer service to field offices regarding payroll related issues.
• processing child support, medical support and employment verification documents and entering appropriate deductions.

This position is a full-time, direct hire position located in (HQ) Columbus, Ohio.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

• Receives payroll information via timesheets, timeclocks, e-solutions, or other sources of customer-approved documentation.
• Accurately keys all payroll related data necessary to process temporary employee paychecks.
• Research and resolve payroll/system issues and problems.
• Participate in field staff training sessions.
• Enter direct deposit information.
• Review, process and enter child support and medical support paperwork and deductions.
• Review, process and enter wage garnishments and levy information.
• Answer telephone to provide desired information for field office staff.
• Maintain records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Verify accuracy of information received.
• All other duties that may arise to ensure successful operation of Surge.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of previous customer service or appropriate business experience a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Problem solving ability.
• Ability to shift back and forth between two or more tasks.
• Ability to remember information (e.g., policies, procedures) or find it as needed.
• Ability to access areas where needed people, information or equipment are located.
• Ability to understand and accurately apply basic math skills.
• Ability to make competent use of work-related equipment and materials.
• Cooperative, team oriented, patient, calm under pressure, and able to work independently.
• Strong PC skills and the ability to navigate within the Surge systems is critical.
