Job Description - Proposal Writer

Our partner firm, a swiftly expanding firm in the civil engineering sector, is in search of a talented proposal writer to enhance their team. This role is pivotal in crafting compelling proposals that are essential for business expansion and securing new contracts. As a proposal writer, your responsibilities include collecting necessary information, adhering to the firm's formatting standards for each proposal, and ensuring approvals are obtained before submission. The role demands outstanding organizational prowess, the ability to thrive under tight deadlines, and proficiency in written communication. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, values factual accuracy, and possesses a knack for persuasive writing.

 

Job Responsibilities

- Develop, coordinate, write, and edit responses to solicitations, RFQs, RFPs, ensuring a blend of thorough research, technical content, graphics, page layout, and design.

- Collaborate with leaders across various departments to compile materials, overseeing the proposal process from inception to delivery.

- Critically review solicitations, SOQs, RFQs, RFPs, ensuring content is free of errors and complies with specified requirements.

- Create and refine PowerPoint presentations, leave-behinds, and handouts for client meetings and interviews.

- Contribute to the tracking and management of potential opportunities.

- Organize and partake in strategy sessions.

- Represent the firm in pre-proposal gatherings and post-discussion debriefings when necessary.

- Provide support to other business development and marketing initiatives as required.

- Maintain and update marketing department databases and documentation, including resumes, project portfolios, photos, references, licenses, certifications, project history, etc.

 

Communication Skills

Candidates must possess superior project and time management capabilities, with a keen focus on detail and organizational efficiency. Proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading is crucial, coupled with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, deadlines, and assignments simultaneously.

 

Qualifications:

- A minimum of 2 years' experience in proposal and presentation coordination, with a background in marketing support within the Civil or Environmental Engineering domains.

- A Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Humanities, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.

- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

- A quasi-journalistic talent for quickly absorbing specialized knowledge and translating it into understandable content for external audiences.

- A strong, influential presence.

- The capacity for rapid execution of high-quality writing.

- A naturally curious intellect with the aptitude to swiftly familiarize oneself with diverse subjects.

- Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and multitasking in a dynamic, deadline-driven setting.
