Job Summary
The Medical Scribe is responsible for recording a medical providers (Physician or Advanced Practice Clinician) interactions with patients and assisting with clerical duties related to medical documentation. Their duties include recording a medical providers interactions with patients, filling out paperwork, summaries and referral letters after a visit and entering data into medical records.
This position will be assisting the Urologic Cancer Disease Group in the Division of Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine and the Huntsman Cancer Institute ( This is a great opportunity for those seeking to gain an initial understanding of the medical field and medical terminology.
One year dictaphone experience; one year of medical transcriptionist experience or equivalency; ability to type 65 WPM ; and knowledge of medical terminology is preferred, but not required for this position. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are required.

Responsibilities
A Medical Scribe is a professional who acts as a personal assistant to a medical provider and collects information from patients in real-time during their visits. Some of their main responsibilities in clinic include:
Taking notes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic health records system ( EPIC )
Using a team approach to work effectively with many medical providers in clinic
Working with the supervising medical provider to complete and submit medical records
Communicating with patients professionally under the supervision of the supervising medical provider
Completing all administrative tasks efficiently
Helping electronically prescribe medication for patients
Staying up-to-date on the electronic health records system ( EPIC ) and taking required courses as needed

Minimum Qualifications
