What will you be doing?

As an employee working within the

Child Welfare Program

As an Office Specialist 2, you will:

  • Provides general clerical support to Child Welfare caseworkers and unit supervisors.

  • Ensures timely production of payments, policy and procedural requirements, forms, and letters in accordance with ODHS policy and procedures.

  • Processes all paperwork and payments to document responsible services to clients and consumers within the district.

  • Performs administrative, general office, and record processing activities to ensure timely and accurate support services.

  • Guarantees compliance with State and Federal laws to ensure maximum funding for all District programs.

What you need to qualify

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

  • An associate degree in any field; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential attributes

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Proficient in navigating technology, inputting, and retrieving data, and using various computer systems or databases, including Microsoft 365 programs.

  • Experience using spreadsheets for tracking of various items, including scheduling, and overseeing maintenance of office cars.

  • Experience Successfully organizing, prioritizing caseloads, and adapting to evolving circumstances and time constraints.

  • Experience in financial tasks such as issuing negotiables, reconciling, ordering, and ensuring accuracy in documentation.

  • Experience adopting trauma-informed practices that consider individual needs, safety, trust-building, and cultural sensitivity.

  • Experience promoting an inclusive environment where individuals are respected and supported.

Working conditions

  • Your work will be conducted in the office, this is not a remote position.

  • Occasional travel is required for attending meetings, trainings, and other role related activities.

  • Employee will work a professional work week; hours of work may fluctuate based on service needs. Occasional, compensated overtime may be required, including evening and weekend work.

  • You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.

  • You may encounter stressful situations that will require quick decision-making skills.

  • This position requires sitting or standing at a terminal and using a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of the workday.
