Senior Vice President of Programs 

Department: Programs 

Status: Exempt, Full-Time

Location: Seattle, WA.

Pay Rate: $180,000 - $200,000 / annually

ABOUT THE POSITION

This Senior Vice President of Programs drives the long-term vision for FareStart’s training and student support programs. This position is responsible for creating and implementing a cohesive strategy that focuses on continuous improvement and expansion, as well as the daily management, supervision, and execution of FareStart’s training and student programs. This position works collaboratively with the senor leadership team working on the integration of training with Social Enterprises.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities  include the following:

  • Collaborate and partner with senior leadership to develop and meet FareStart’s strategic goals while providing subject matter expertise and guidance on programs.
  • Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the organization’s programs. Collaborate with SVP of Social Enterprise on how programs intersect with Social Enterprise.
  • Lead all aspects of programs, embedding diversity, justice, equity, and belonging into all practices.
  • Provide daily management, supervision and execution of all program related initiatives.
  • Partner with other departments to build processes that ensure FareStart’s goals and objectives are met with greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage and oversee direct reports as well as oversight for complex down-level staffing.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources in programs department.
  • Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans are in line with FareStart’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and values.
  • Present periodic performance reports and metrics to CEO, senior leadership team, and Board of Directors.
  • In collaboration with organization leadership represent the organization in external settings and meetings, especially as it relates to student training and support.
  • Support resource development for the organization, especially as it relates to student training and support.
  • Ensure communication and information flows to necessary stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Foster a dynamic and collaborative work environment to engage employees and develop empowered work teams.
  • Manage departmental budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Participate in board meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree relevant field and ten (10) or more years of related experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience managing and developing teams. 
  • Board development, fundraising, marketing/branding, and financial experience. 
  • Experience supporting the career development of colleagues and direct reports.
  • Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. 
  • Demonstrated presentation and communication skills with the ability to be an outgoing spokesperson, relationship builder, and fundraiser. 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to display sensitivity, tact, and responsiveness in various situations and maintain a high level of confidentiality. 
  • Ability to listen, give and receive feedback in a productive and professional manner. 
  • Ability to translate vision into planning and implementation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication based on audience and purpose with inclusivity. Ability to disseminate information effectively to appropriate levels.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and requests and meet deadlines in a professional manner.
  • Ability to evaluate problems and effectively solve them in a timely manner. Ability to respond to concerns with empathy and inclusivity. Respond appropriately to conflict. 
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities, work with others, and coach employees to develop their full potential. Provide helpful, behaviorally specific feedback to others. Regularly meet with employees to review their development progress and express confidence in their abilities to be successful. Engage in open and honest communication.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and challenges, take initiative, ask questions, and provide solutions to achieve organizational objectives. 
  • Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
