The Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes Research (HICOR) is a multi-disciplinary research institute whose mission is to reduce the human and economic burden of cancer. HICOR faculty conduct research in health economics, implementation science, quality of care, health care delivery, health disparities, and health policy.

The Rutter lab, within the Hutchinson Institute for Cancer Outcomes Research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, is recruiting for a talented Summer Pre-Doctoral Research Assistant with expertise in R programming, health economics and cost-effectiveness research. Candidates with strong interest in decision analytic modeling are also highly recommended to apply.

Dr. Rutter's interests include microsimulation modeling and model calibration, evaluation of diagnostic and screening tests, and meta-analysis and systematic reviews, with a focus on Bayesian approaches. She is interested in understanding and addressing health care inequities and assessing health care quality and provider performance. This research position offers the opportunity to support the development and validation of microsimulation models focused on simulation of cancer screening and methods to calibrate these models, including participation in the development of manuscripts and grant applications.

Responsibilities

• Execute HEOR research using internal data sets including writing protocols and statistical analysis plans, executing research with analyst, and writing final reports or publications
• Design economic model structure and support team members in programming the model
• Lead discussions of methods and resources to define parameter inputs values
• Interpret model results and sensitivity analyses
• Contribute to the writing of a manuscript for publication based on data analysis
• Ensure all deliverables, meet the highest level of scientific quality standard

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 3+ years of relevant HEOR pharmaceutical industry, CRO, or academic experience (can include consulting experience)
• Education: Graduate degree in Economics, Health Economics, Outcomes research (Pharma) biostatistics, or related field preferred
• Previous experience conducting cost-effectiveness analyses and budget impact analyses
• Strong track record of independent publication experience in peer reviewed journals
• Previous experience in mathematical modeling and cost-effectiveness analyses
• Possess both strategic and tactical skills in executing HEOR

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Coding in R and Visual Basic.
• Strong strategic and leadership skills.
• Ability to work well in a cross-functional team.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $0 to $48.08 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 11 days per year).
